The 10 best dresses in Golden Globe history

08 JANUARY 2013
Ruffles, layers of decadent fabrics and oh-so-many sequins… Let's face it – we love nothing more than looking at the memorable, glamorous gowns sported by A-list beauties on the red carpet.

And few events offer the same standout frocks as the Golden Globes. Although some of the prestigious event's past dresses don't quite get our nod of approval, others top best-dressed charts and go down in fashion history for all the right reasons.

People started to sit up and take notice of Goldie Hawn's daughter Kate Hudson when she stepped out in this plunging, Atelier Versace frock complete with thousands of crystals in 2002

Latino beauty Salma Hayek stole the show in 2003 when she showed off her sensational curves in a figure-hugging, scarlet Narciso Rodriguez frock

Sarah Jessica Parker seemed to be channeling her alter ego Carrie Bradshaw in 2004 with her quirky dress. Funnily enough, this was the year she picked up Best Actress for playing the loveable character

Keira was stunning in this Grecian-inspired vintage Valentino column number in 2006

Sienna Miller wowed in a gorgeous ivory Marchesa gown as she glided down the red carpet in 2007. An unusual braid completed the Grecian goddess look

Cameron Diaz was simply divine in a candy pink satin Chanel gown in 2009

But that same year, Eva Mendes managed to share Cameron's limelight in a white silk Dior taffeta bustier creation

Eva Longoria looked as though she was rising from the red carpet in this scarlet Reem Acra fishtail gown

Kate Winslet, meanwhile, gave us a more subdued – but equally stunning – look. The actress was the epitome of classic elegance in a black strapless Yves Saint Laurent number that she paired with Chopard diamonds
